Kathleen Zellner
American lawyer Kathleen Zellner has extensive experience in the field of wrongful conviction advocacy. Some notable clients she represents are Steven Avery, the subject of the 2015 and the 2018 Netflix series, Kevin Fox (who was falsely accused of murdering her daughter), Ryan W. Ferguson and Larry Eyler. There are 19 exonerees in the National Registry of Exonerations. Kathleen Zellner was born in Midland, Texas, the seventh child of seven. Owen Thomas, her father was geologist. Winifred, her mother was a chemist , and later became a nurse. When she was nine years older her family and she moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Marquette University in Wisconsin and then the University of Missouri were her first two locations. She received a bachelor of Arts. Concordia University in Montreal (Canada). She received her Juris Doctor in 1981 from Northern Illinois University College of Law. In this capacity, she was Editor-in Chief of the Law Review and worked as a clerk for George W. Lindberg (2nd District Illinois Appellate Court). Kathleen T. Zellner & Associates, Downers Grove, Illinois was her first firm. The firm is a specialist in the cases of wrongful convictions and civil rights violations medical malpractice, and prisoner abuse cases.Zellner has had 19 exonerations by the end of October, 2018, and is currently 20 exonerations have been granted to clients. The clients that Zellner represents include Steven Avery (the subject of the Netflix series Making a Murderer) and Kevin Fox (the falsely accused of murdering his three-year-old daughter). There are also 19 exonerees that are included in the National Registry of Exonerations. Newsweek said that her lawyer stated that she would face her trial in the courtroom if she were in the process of being found guilty.
