Moss, born 13th February 1977 is an ex-American player in the field of
football. He played in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons ,
including the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots,
Tennessee Titans, and the San Francisco 49ers. He is widely regarded as the
best wide receiver in history together with Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL
single-season record for touchdown receptions (23 in 2007) as well as the NFL
single-season record for touchdown reception for rookies (17 in 1998) and is
ranked second in the NFL all-time regular season touchdown reception list, with
156. Moss was well-known for his skills in securing a an elusive catch and
"mossed" is today a football word. Following his football career
began, he was hired as a studio analyst at ESPN for the Sunday NFL Countdown
program and Monday Night Countdown. Moss was a Rand, West Virginia native. He
was a student at DuPont High School. It was one of two schools which eventually
merged to form Riverside High School. There was a great player in basketball,
football, baseball track, track and other sports. Randy was also on the
school’s debate team. Moss played a key role in leading the DuPont Panthers
football team to two consecutive state championships in 1992, 1993. His primary
position was wide receiver. However, Moss also played free safety as well as
punted kickoffs and was the team's punter and kicker. In 1994, he was honoured
with the Kennedy Award as the West Virginia Football Player of the Year. Parade
magazine named him to their annual All-American high school football team in
1995 and in 2009, they named him among the top 50 high school football players
of all time.
